The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide on the Permeability of the Cell by David Landsborough Thomson

چکیده

Szucs (1913) reported that hydrogen peroxide increased the permeability of the living cell. Following up a previous observation [Bokorny, 1886], he found that if threads of Spirogyra were treated first with hydrogen peroxide and then with ferrous sulphate solutions, a dark precipitate appeared within the cells. He concluded that the hydrogen peroxide had so increased the permeability of the cell that the ferrous ions were able to enter and form a dark iron-tannin compound. It was also found that hydrogen peroxide increased the permeability of the cell to various dyes. In view of the ever-increasing importance of the role assigned to hydrogen peroxide in cell metabolism it seemed worth while to re-open this question. As Sziics gives no details of his experiments, an exact repetition was impossible.

Influence of unsuitable operational conditions on the transient performance of a small hydrogen liquefier

Joule-Thomson cooling systems are used in refrigeration processes such as cryogenic gas liquefaction. Although extensive studies have been carried out by researchers, most of them include cryogenic heat exchangers and their associated fields. In the current study, an attempt was made to indicate the effect of using inappropriate operational conditions in a cryogenic Joule-Thomson cooling system...

The Effect of Eight Weeks of Aerobic Exercise and Vitamin-D Supplementation on Osteocalcine and Alkaline Pphosphatase in Rats Poisoned with H2O2

Background and Objectives: Osteoporosis is one of the bone diseases that various factors such as oxidative stress have a role in creating it. The current research aimed to examine the synchronous effect of aerobic physical exercise and Vitamin D supplementation on osteocalcine and alkaline phosphatase in rats poisoned by H2O2.  Materials & Methods: Sixty adult male Wistar rats were randomly di...

Effect of Trehalose on the Expression of Heat Shock Protein 70 Gene in PC12 Cells Treated with Hydrogen Peroxide

Background and purpose: Oxidative stress is implicated in the pathogenesis of various diseases, including neurological disorders. In such stressful conditions, heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) protects cells, thus its pharmacological induction can be protective. The disaccharide trehalose exhibits various beneficial effects, including antioxidative effect. However, its impact on HSP70 is not obvio...

Effect of sequential treatments with sodium dodecyl sulfate and citric acid or hydrogen peroxide on the reduction of some foodborne pathogens on eggshell

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), citric acid, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), alone or in combination, on reducing the population of four foodborne pathogens, including Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella typhimurium, and Staphylococcus aureus on eggshells. In each series of tests, eight fresh eggs were inoculated with each bact...
